Our Story

Built Around the Belief That
Home Should Feel Like Home

Chom Suan grew from a simple question: what would it look like if senior living were shaped by warmth, dignity, and a genuine sense of belonging?

Who We Are

A Small Home That Takes Its Name from the Gardens

"Chom Suan" translates loosely from Thai as "looking out at the garden" — and that image is at the heart of what we do. The property sits in Rawai, on the quieter southern tip of Phuket, surrounded by established tropical greenery, far from the island's busier tourist zones.

We opened our doors after years of observing that the senior living options available in Thailand — both local and international — tended toward either full medical facilities or serviced apartments that felt more like hotels than homes. Neither felt quite right for older adults who are well and independent but who want a little more support, community, and purpose in their daily lives.

Chom Suan is intentionally small. We do not aim to scale to dozens of properties. We aim to do this one thing well, in this one place, for the residents who choose to live here.

Our Mission

To offer seniors a place where daily life feels genuinely pleasant — where meals are good, company is available, activities are meaningful, and staff are present without being intrusive.

Our Vision

A community where residents grow into their surroundings — where the garden paths become familiar, the neighbours become friends, and the rhythm of daily life becomes something to look forward to.

Our Values

Respect for each resident's pace and preferences. Transparency with families. Honesty about what we can and cannot offer. And a genuine, unhurried warmth in every interaction.

The Team

The People You Will Actually Meet

Our team is small, consistent, and long-serving. Residents see the same faces each day — and that familiarity matters.

How We Work

The Standards We Hold Ourselves To

These are not policies from a manual. They are the ways we have found, over time, that this kind of care is done well.

Food Quality

Meals are prepared daily using fresh produce from local markets. Dietary needs and preferences are noted from day one and adapted as they evolve over time.

Resident Privacy

Personal information is never shared with third parties. Family communication is handled with resident consent and follows clear, agreed protocols from the outset.

Housekeeping Standards

Each villa is serviced daily. Common areas are maintained to a consistent standard throughout the day. Residents have clear channels to raise any concerns promptly.

Staff Continuity

We invest in keeping our team together. High turnover would unsettle the community we have built. Residents benefit from staff who know them, not staff who are constantly changing.

Open Communication

Families are kept informed through regular updates, not just when there is a problem. We encourage conversations about what is working and what could be better.

Wellbeing Focus

Beyond physical comfort, we pay attention to how residents are feeling socially and emotionally. The Cultural Calendar and community spaces are specifically designed to support connection and purpose.

Our Approach

Senior Living That Respects the Person, Not Just the Schedule

Chom Suan sits at the southern end of Phuket, in a neighbourhood that has retained much of its original character. The streets around Rawai are quieter than the resort towns to the north, and the community of long-term residents — Thai and international alike — gives the area a settled, unhurried quality that suits the kind of life we offer here.

Our approach to daily life draws on Thai traditions of hospitality and respect for elders, while adapting practically to the needs of an international community. Meals reflect both local flavours and the preferences of residents from different backgrounds. Activities weave Thai festivals and cultural moments into a calendar that also leaves plenty of room for individual interests and quiet time.

We do not operate as a medical facility, and we are clear about that with every family who enquires. What we offer is attentive, consistent, non-medical daily support — the kind of assistance that makes independent life more comfortable and more sustainable over time.

Rawai's proximity to Phuket International Airport means that families travelling from Europe, Australia, or elsewhere in Asia can reach us relatively easily. Many of our residents have adult children abroad, and we take the responsibility of keeping those families informed seriously — which is why communication and transparency sit at the centre of how we work.
