Longer Stories Worth Sharing

The Challenge

A 74-year-old British woman living alone in Chiang Mai after her husband's passing. Her daughter in London was concerned about isolation and the distance. Several care home options in the UK felt institutional and expensive. The family wanted something warmer and less clinical.

The Solution

After a video call with our family liaison and a one-week trial stay, she moved into a Garden Villa. The Transition Program gave her daughter weekly updates and a named contact. Within six weeks she had joined the cooking demonstrations and began sitting with a small group for afternoon tea each day.

The Outcome

Eighteen months later she describes Rawai as her home. Her daughter visits twice a year and says the anxiety she carried for two years has largely lifted. The resident herself has begun attending Thai music sessions and recently helped organise a Loy Krathong evening for the community.

The Challenge

A retired Thai civil servant whose children live in Singapore and Germany. He was in good health but finding his Bangkok apartment too isolating after retirement. He had always wanted to return to southern Thailand, where he grew up, but was hesitant about leaving his established routines.
